We’re looking for a full-time, remote Brewery Tax Associate to join our specialized team. The main objective of this role is to support the day-to-day administrative and organizational responsibilities required for our Brewery Tax Team to operate effectively in accordance with SBS Core Values.

About The Role

This role will report to our Brewery Tax Manager and is accountable for fulfilling the following responsibilities:

  • Support business and personal tax return service delivery for our brewery clients. In the primary function of this role, you’ll work hand-in-hand with our Brewery Tax Manager and Specialists to ensure a clearly communicated, organized, precise, and comprehensive delivery of our clients’ tax needs. This will include focused periods of client communication, tax document collection, and organization, as well as tax software return preparation work (Ultratax, Workpapers CS). You’ll also support the team with research and administrative tasks to enhance our overall tax program.
  • Preparation of Business Tangible Personal Property Tax Returns. You will collaborate with the Brewery Tax Manager and Specialists to prepare Business Tangible Personal Property Tax Return filings for our brewery clients, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Run and contribute to Projects. You’ll have the opportunity to either run your own projects or join existing projects as a contributing team member, aimed at advancing the company’s mission outside of your regular responsibilities.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement. Every member of our team is expected to identify and address inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, actively contributing to refining our processes in alignment with our mission.
  • Contribute to the overall success of our company. In addition to your specific role, you’ll be an integral part of the team, supporting the company in achieving its broader mission through teamwork and collaboration.

Job Requirements

  • The following basic requirements must be met:
  • Previous experience in a tax support or administrative role.
  • Familiarity with tax preparation and bookkeeping.
  • Comfortable working remotely and communicating with clients.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Fixed Assets CS, and Google Suite.
  • Available during normal business hours (9am-5pm Eastern Time, Monday-Friday).
  • Strong internet connection and a conducive work environment for video calls.
  • Availability to work up to an additional 10-15 hours per week during the February 1st to April 15th tax busy season*

*This additional time worked would be returned to the tax associate over the summer through our Tax Season Fextime Policy.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Direct experience with tax return preparation (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040) and familiarity with tax software.
  • Experience interacting with clients in a tax or customer service setting.
  • Familiarity with platforms like Workpapers CS, Fixed Assets CS, and remote project management tools.
